As we age our hormone levels change. This happens to us in our teens and then again when we get older. By maintaining our hormone levels it may be possible to stay healthier as well. Women are not the only people who experience changes in their hormone levels as they age, men do too. It is called menopause in women and andropause in men. It is not typically as drastic with men as it is with women, although for some it can be.

There are many ways that a person can make themselves look younger as they age. Utilizing some of the products on the market can help them to do so. They can purchase cleansers, exfoliates, lotions, creams, masks and many other products on the market. There are also procedures that can be done such as face lifts, etc... The best way to keep our skin looking its best is to stay out of the sun.

The sun is actually the cause of many of the things that we attribute to aging, such as wrinkles. Ultra violet light damages the elastin in the skin. The breakdown of the elastin in the skin causes the skin not to be able to snap back to its original position when pinched. Age spots are also caused by sun exposure

You can delay a lot of damage by staying out of the sun. Even if you have already experienced damage due to excessive exposure, it is never too late to start protecting yourself from further harm.

Best ways to stay healthy:

Stay out of the sun, especially between 10am and 3pm
Use sunscreen
Wear protective clothing
Avoid artificial tanning
Make sure to check your skin often for changes and report any to your doctor.

Skin cancer is the most common kind of cancer in the United States. Forty to fifty percent of the people who live to sixty-five will have skin cancer at least once. The risk is greater for those who are fair and have skin that freckles easier. You should report any changes to your doctor immediately. Do not wait for the area to hurt as most skin cancers do not cause pain. Once they spread to an organ however, they can rarely be cured.

Gravity also pulls at the skin making it sag. People who smoke tend to have more problems with wrinkles, possibly because smoking damages elastin so terribly.

There are other contributing factors to poor skin tone. Women who have experienced menopause have less oil in their skin, which causes dryness. The skin looses the ability to perspire as we age. Other problems that are caused by aging include the skin becoming thinner, losing fat, gets less plump and smooth and shows underlying structures (like veins and bones).
