Eat Your Vegetables

Following your mother's orders and eating your vegetables, taking your vitamins, making sure that you have a balanced diet may actually be more important than you originally thought. It is more than just a matter of keeping the common cold away. It is not just a matter of "an apple a day will keep the doctor away," it is much more than that.

Many people in today's society have decided to accept themselves the way that they are and have also decided that other people also need to accept them that way too. Perhaps they do not care if others accept them or not.

The best way to slow the aging process is to take care of yourself. Raw nuts, seeds, barley greens and olive oil are all believed to help slow down the aging process. Eating foods just to eat is often the wrong way to go. You could be eating foods with calories that actually are doing you no good at all, and they may even affect you adversely. These are called empty calories and they actually speed up the aging process. This is because they do not replace dead cells with new healthy cells but with undernourished cells. The new cells start out looking bad in the first place rather than like a new healthy cell. Junk food, fast food etc. give you empty calories which will accelerate the aging process.

There are so many foods that have the right kind of calories that everyone should be able to find foods that they like and that give them the proper nutrition. A person does not have to suffer to eat right. Many of the right foods taste good and are good for you too.

Of course, everyone's tastes are different so this will be different for everyone. It takes a little experimentation to find the right foods for each person, but that can be fun, because you get to try new things.

Experimentation is a good thing and can be considered an adventure of sorts. It is wise to buy small amounts of the foods until you find the ones that you know that you like. Doing a little research as to the foods that contain the calories and anti-aging characteristics that you are looking for is a good way to decide what you need to try.

If you have not tried the food before, buy a small amount and give it a whirl. If there is preparation required it may be good to look up a recipe or two to find one that seems like it would be good to you. Often though, if it is a vegetable you may not even have to cook at all. You may be able to just eat it as is!
